ACTIVITIES
Backpacking, Camping, Day Hike

WHY GO
Stark beauty and variety of a grand desert basin.

BEST BITS
Simply the awe inspiring landscape. But we also spotted more wildlife hear than on any other trek I have been on.

Piegan' s pass was an incredible day hike, even after spending 8 days backpacking 80 miles through other parts of the park.

BUMMERS
With all the steep inclines and declines, some trekkers had a real problem with blisters on their feet and bruising under their toes nails.

CHALLENGES
The steep inclines at high elevations with an 8 day pack was really exhausting especially the first couple of days while my body got used to trail.

GETTING THERE
Fly to Kalispell, MT rent a car to get to the trail head at Bowman Lake.

PLANNING
For our multi-day through hike we used the seasonal shuttle that runs between Apgar and Many Glacier. This still involved us shuttling cars between Agpar and our first campsite at Bowman lake.

BACKCOUNTRY ITINERARY

Bowman Lake South  >  Bowman Lake North  >  Boulder Pass > Kootenal Lake > Glenns Lake > Elizabeth Lake > Pola Lake > Many Glacier

GEAR TIPS
Black Bear and even Grizzlies are common in the park so a tuff bear bag and bear line is a must. Also top up your supply of foot care products incase of blisters.
