WHERE: UPSIDEDOWN CREEK, BEARTOOTH MOUNTAINS, MONTANA

WHY GO
All the spectacular beauty of a National Park without any of the crowds or hassle of booking a campsite. We saw 9 people over 7 days, set up camp anywhere that caught our eye and even stay an extra day just because we wanted to. There are alpine lakes everywhere so bring a rod and try your luck at catching dinner. Expansive vistas to surrounding peaks makes the perfect place to practice map and compass skills.

GETTING THERE
Fly to Billings, rent a car and drive to the trail head.

GEAR TIPS
Bring warm layers because at this altitude the temperature can drop. We hit a snow storm on labor day weekend.
